Who We Are
A membership with ILV gives you a copy of our monthly newsletters, a vote at our Annual General Meeting, notices of socials and workshops sponsored by the ILV. Having a strong membership base demonstrates community support, allowing ILV to apply for funding to support programs and services.
As a resource centre for people with a variety of disabilities the ILV is involved in many community issues locally, provincially and nationally.
Locally ILV works with community partners such as the Social Planning Council for the North Okanagan, Neil Squire Society, Vernon and District Association for Community Living, and many more community agencies. We work together to avoid duplication of services, reduce gaps in service, and stay abreast of issues affecting people with disabilities in our community.
Provincially, ILV works with four other Centres in Richmond, Duncan, Nanaimo and Victoria to market our services and ensure people with disabilities are getting the information or services they require in urban and rural areas of the province.
Nationally, our affiliation and membership with the Canadian Association of Independent Living Centres offers ILV and it's members the opportunity to be informed about programs and services that the Federal Government is developing for people with disabilities.
